Tucson Tech – hotter than a habanero

Technology success has never been a stranger to the Tucson region but in the last few years, the technology sector has really heated up.

Tech companies have seen booming local success. It dates back at least to 1951 when Howard Hughes’ Hughes Missile Systems built its plant here, which in 1997 was acquired by Raytheon and to 1956 when Page Burr and Thomas R. Brown Jr. founded Burr-Brown drawing the eye of Texas Instruments, which acquired the company in 2000. More recently there was the international success of Ventana Medical Systems which is now a part of the Swiss-based pharmaceutical and diagnostics giant Roche Group.
